A Small Hibernation

The main areas of the Rijksmuseum have been under extensive renovation and closed to the public for a decade. Reported to have cost over €300million, I am certain the much anticipated April-13 opening has the whole of Europe (let alone Amsterdam) atwitter...

Massimo Listri

Using natural light where possible, photographer Massimo Listri has perfectly captured what can only be described as the most exquisite interiors in the world. In his own words:

My photography is an expression of tranquility and silence in this chaotic society - a sense of perspective and equilibrium. This is therapy for the soul. Duchess of Alba

In my next life, I think I may just want to be the Duchess of Alba. Unashamedly bold and audacious, at 85 she has just married her third husband, Alfonso Diez - 25 years her junior. She is exempt from kneeling before the Pope, and with 47 titles - including the Grandes de España - she has ridden on horseback into the Seville Cathedral. My fantasy kindred spirit? Yes, her life sounds quite ideal, especially zig-zagging between the six spectacular palaces owned throughout Spain, littered with Rembrandts and Brueghels (to name but a few)...
