A Wedding at Terrain
One of my favorite shops in the whole wide world is Terrain in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. It is the horticultural variant of Anthropologie and styled just as masterfully, except that most of the verdant merchandise is constantly growing, flourishing and sprouting. It truly is a gorgeous photo-op at every turn, so an obvious choice for a show-stopping (but pure and wholesome) wedding. And a wedding reception feast in the antique greenhouse of the organic Glen Mills Garden Café, would crown it all...

Goëss Apartment
These elaborate four rooms form a mere fraction of the Empress Maria Theresa’s summer house at Schönbrunn, known today as the Goëss Apartment. The very same Empress Maria Theresa, who was mother to 16 children, one of which was Marie Antoinette... (how pleasing for a dull and grey winter's day).

Transparent
The overwhelmingly quiet and beautiful courtyard at the Cortile di Via Savona at Zona Tortona - (Part of the Luce Tempo Luogo exhibition in Milan) by Dorell, Ghotmeh and Tane Architects, in collaboration with Izumi Okayasu and Toshiba. The idea is that the courtyard and reflective pool are illuminated by the sun during the day and by LED’s at night. A great example of appreciating the historic and century-old walls, while employing light and a contemporary pool to enhance each component...

Neues Museum, Berlin...
I would hazard a guess that original architect, Friedrich August Stüler, (1800-1865) would approve of the recent restoration of the exquisitely-appointed Neues Museum in Berlin. Extensive bombing during the Second World War left the building in ruins, with entire sections missing completely and others severely damaged. The building was abandoned for decades, and restoration was only decided upon in 1985. British architect, David Chipperfield, is responsible for overseeing the reconstruction of the Neues Museum. A project which extends into 2015...

A Walk in Pictures
As I walked into town on Saturday, I was very encouraged to see that the seen-better-days-but-still-fabulous Long Street Baths (a bone fide original 1908 Turkish-style bathhouse) is receiving a small face-lift in the form of a new coat of paint. I almost fainted when I saw that all of the original Art Nouveau-esque font had been 'washed' over, but I hope that meticulous reapplication is in store for each letter...
I then grabbed a latte at YOURSTRULY and had to share this charming insight inscribed on a pillar...
After running a few errands, and getting soaked (always expect an unexpected shower in Cape Town), I stopped in at O.Live - a gem on Kloof Street, always beautifully merchandised and inspiring...
Finally, feeling somewhat peckish, I walked further up the hill to a favourite haunt - The Power and the Glory - for their outstanding hot dog (on a salty pretzel roll)...
All in all, a very satisfying morning!

A Small Hibernation
The main areas of the Rijksmuseum have been under extensive renovation and closed to the public for a decade. Reported to have cost over €300million, I am certain the much anticipated April-13 opening has the whole of Europe (let alone Amsterdam) atwitter...
