Shadows and Light
While on the subject of photographer Christophe Dugied... the work (below) entitled "Les Terrasses" found its inspiration from the interiors of an old castle. A large format camera was used, using color negative film. In his own words:
“I love painting especially the work of William Hammershoi and Edward Hopper. I like the silence they bring into their canvas, I like the space they leave for contemplation and the fact that the harmony that exudes from their work is always in conjunction with a sense of enigma".

Workshop Convert
Too fabulous. This is the Paris apartment belonging to Isabelle Puech and Benoit Jamin – a converted carousel workshop in the 9th Arrondissement, where merry-go-round horses were once repaired...

Alex Raskin
I am lucky enough to have been to the wondrous Alex Raskin Antiques in Savannah, Georgia. It is housed in the Noble Hardee Mansion, and is every bit as breathtaking as it looks...

I fear...
that this week may resemble being forcefully thrust into a tumble-dryer. Yes, heinous to say the least. So, I'm afraid it will be a case of lots of pictures (blog-wise), but somewhat mute in the word sense...

Envelope Art
Mark Powell draws remarkable portraits with a Biro pen - sagacious (current favorite word - although a tad pompous) elderly faces with haunting expressions. Eyes that appear to have taken in more than their fair share...

One City, Five Hours...
I am completely smitten with the ultra-enchanting artwork of Oliver Jeffers. Here is a series of sketches made for United Airlines. This is what the artist said:
I made a bunch of maps for the United Airlines inflight magazine. They are all geographically accurate...
Jeffers has also created charming 'sketchbooks' - From Sketch Book 1...
From Sketch Book 2...
And also this fabulous illustration for The Brooklyn Circus...
